Today is Kenzie's first visit to the pediatrian's. She cried the entire time due to hunger. The doctor had to leave to allow me to feed her. She weighed at 8/1 so not much loss since birth. I did good. I'm suffering from nursing pain and back pain. Hopefully the coming weeks will be better for both of us.

Past Due
I'm one day past due. Baby has no sign of coming out. I'm restless. The doctor is trying to schedule induction this week when there is space at the hospital. At this point, all I want is to stop being in the state of pregnancy.

Waiting
39 weeks 2 days. Mike's had his DR meeting today and I have wrapped up pretty much everything at work, nanny is coming on Thursday so technically it's "safe" for me to go in labor. Baby is not ready yet.
Yesterday Mike saw some beady eyes under the kitchen sink. It was the mouse we've been looking for. He sealed the cabinet with tape. When he got home and Mia went to bed, we started cleaning out the chemicals from the cabinet and hoping we'd capture the critter. It was so gross. The thing had obviously trying to nest there. We did not see any mouse. I was so stressed. I never expected to kneel down on the floor days before delivery and mopping the floor and sanitizing all the cleaning supplies. Mike sealed the cabinet again and put poison in. Hopefully we will get the darn thing.
I went to the towncenter today over lunch, had gelato, sat in the shade and people watched. I wanted to rush the baby. I am so ready.

First Sleep Over
July 4 weekend we had four days off. We went to my in-laws. Mia swam and watched fireworks from the backyard mid afternoon. She's too little to play with sparklers but she had fun watching them.
July 5 Mia was at daycare when Mike and I had lunch and went to see Man of Steel. Last time we watched a movie at a theatre must be almost a year ago when my mom was still here. It's so difficult these days to have couple time. Movie was long and violent and not so great but time by ourselves was priceless.
July 6 was the test day for Mia's first sleepover. My in-laws agreed to babysit in preparation for when the second one comes. We dropped off Mia around 11 with a whole suitcase of her blanket, pillow, lammy, books, swimsuit, clothes, bottles, you name it, we brought it. We then left to have lunch, watched Iron Man 3 and drove around Mason campus waiting for our "lavish" dinner date set up by Mike to celebrate my birthday. Date nights are so rare these days, I did not mind us being so uncreative, i.e. lunch and movie two days in a row. I was just happy I knew what I was eating and everything was still warm when I put them in my mouth. Villa Mozart is this top ranked NOVA restaurant from last year. I've been wanting to come. We had a four course meal in the span of 3 hours. Service was below par. The grilled octopus appetizer was the best. Rest of the meal was mediocre. I appreciated the time alone with my hubby. Despite of my huge belly, I almost felt inspired like we went back to the times of eating out and trying new places all the time.
July 7 we went to pick up Mia. She behaved liked an angel the day before. Ate well, went to the club for dinner and met a bunch of folks, had an hour of swim, went to bed before 8:30, went to potty twice in the PM. What was amazing was she woke up in the morning, got out off her sleeping bag, went to the top of the stairs and called for grandma and grandpa. She was fully aware of her environment and never asked for us except once. Amazingly indepedent! I am very proud of her.

My Baby's Kicking
Mia has been saying "my baby's kicking in my belly" at daycare. I am at 38 weeks now and moving slowly and painfully at times. Next week I will start working from home. I really don't think I can last till the due date. Hospital bag is packed and all furnitures/clothing are ready. Now it's a better of waiting.
Mia is getting more attached to me as if she knows she will be sharing attention soon. We take an evening stroll in the neighborhood almost everyday after dinner for the past two weeks. She's becoming very conversational and sweet to me. She's still daddy's girl but she's giving me more love now, which makes me feel guilty that she will soon lose a lot of attention from me.
