Yesterday we found out we were having another girl. I told Mia when I got home. She said "I don't want baby sister, I want baby brother".
This morning, I told her baby sister was in mommy's belly and she should be careful not to put pressure on baby sis. Mia turned to me and said "where is baby brother?"

Big Sister
Yesterday Mia said "I want to see baby brother". She pulled my shirt up and said, "I kiss baby brother". She then planted a kiss on my belly. It is the sweetest thing. I am five months pregnant and we will know whether it's a boy or a girl this Friday. When I ask Mia if this is a baby girl or baby boy, she changes her mind all the time. Given that she has such a strong personality, having a baby brother might be better and we may have less sibling rivalry in the house. I am so impatient now I can hardly wait to know.
Today we have a snow storm so we all stay home. We are going to Orlando soon so I don't want Mia to play outside in case she catches a cold before the trip. She just graduated from her baby class at daycare and started with Miss Adella this Monday. I am hoping she will be potty trained soon so we don't need to deal with two babies in diapers.

Things she says
Mia caught me sneaking a chocolate. As she passed me with longing chubby hands over mike's shoulder, she said: so greedy!

Sad that barns & noble near our house is closing. We have a lit of good memories there. Mia had her picture taken there today before it closes next Tuesday.

Blurb
Mike was getting Mia ready for bed last night. He asked: who gives the best kisses? "Mommy". Mia said. I was in another room and was so happy about the nomination.
We had mice problem lately. Mia stomped the floor and said " mouse poopy diaper. Mouse got the cereal...打老鼠"

Bad Words
Mike taught Mia to say "Get up mommy, lazy butt". Not intentionally but she picked it up and now would not let it go. I made Mike pay 20 bucks towards her swear jar.
Other things, not so bad that she's picked up are "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh". She's like a sponge. You say something, she immediately repeats it. You can never expect what's coming out of her mouth next.

Party Overload
This weekend we had three birthday parties, all at some sports bounce place. Mia had her fill of cakes and pizzas.

Celebrating
Mia's birthday party was cozy. I got to see some friends who I haven't seen for a while. Mia got to bounce and eat her fill of cake and pizza. We went to a Chinese restaurant with friends to celebrate Chinese New Year. It was Chinese New Year yesterday.

Happy Birthday Mia
Mia turns two today! I am home today so we both sent her to school with cupcakes for her class. When we got there, she started crying. Miss Ismahan asked her who did her pony tail. She said mommy. Then Miss Ismahan got everyone to sing happy birthday to her and made her happy. Once she got distracted by the lady bug cupcakes, she forgot all about us.
She's been so expressive now and talking non-stop. She sings many songs from beginning to end both Chinese and English ones. I am amazed at her speed of growth. We marked her height on the door frame today. She's shot up a good four five inches since the 1-year-and-half mark.
My family called from China and said Happy Birthday to her this morning. She still remembers everyone and was excited to talk to her cousin and uncle.
Tomorrow we have a birthday party for her. And tomorrow is Chinese New Year's Eve!

Natural History Museum
Last Sunday we ventured out to DC to see the dinosaurs. One of Mia's favorite book is Lulu and the brontosaurus. She however had a reverse reaction over the fossils. I guess they are not quite the same as the cute picture book brontosaurus. She's now managed to say "scary" and "scared". We also visited all the mammals, the sea creatures and the butterflies.

Mia's first accident report
I got a call yesterday morning from the Daycare saying Mia ran, tripped over the toy stroller and cut her bottom lip. My heart just sank. First I thought it was her eye since the phone was breaking up. I was relieved to know it was her lip but still I felt bad for her. We got her first accident report from school. Teacher explained the first aid they applied... "vaseline" and "lots of TLC". I asked Mike what "TLC" was. He said "tender loving care". She saw me at the door, pulled a long sad face, pointed at her lip and said 'booboo'...

2012 X'mas
Merry Christmas 2012. Mia's now posing in her X'mas outfit. She's such a big girl now. This year she's been singing Christmas carols non-stop.

Pinata
Mia's first pinata experience today was to break the little dog for grandma's 60th birthday. She was traumatized by the shattered headless dog. I wish she didn't hzve to go thru it but everything finished within seconds. She refused to see the recorded video afterwards and told me she was afraid. I should have known better.

Stop it, Leave me Alone!
Mia said "Stop it leave me alone" to Mike today. Mike called me to tell me about it. I could not believe it. She's going into the 'terrible 2' phase and becoming very hard headed. Now she's even mouthing back. She's just 22 months old.

Change of Personality
Mia had a change of personality in this semester's Music Together class. I first noticed that she did not eagerly join all the kids to pick music instruments. She'd wait and hesitate to take anything from the teacher. In the first class, she accidently tripped over a 7 month old. The baby broke out crying and probably spooked Mia. Mike attributed her shyness to her traumatic experience of thinking she might have hurt the baby. From then on it's been 6 classes, she still wouldn't venture away me much even though she's seldom that clingy at home or other places. She's generally speaking an outgoing child. Daycare teacher said she was the loudest child and was always friendly... at times strong willed. I am still trying to figure this out.

Picture Day
It's Mia's first Picture Day at the daycare today. I bought her some holiday dresses and a new pair of red shoes last night to go with the outfit. I dropped her off this morning. Principal Kae took her to the photo shoot while I rushed out to my morning appointments. I wish I stayed to see her taking the pictures. All I saw was a snowy background and a bunch of dressed up toddlers. I look forward to seeing the final product.
