Cherry Blossom Festival

Last Saturday was the Cherry Blossom parade, we invited Mia's grandparents to go to DC with us. The weather was perfect. Balmy but not hot. It was unfortunate that we had store on Friday so most of the blossoms got washed away but still it was a nice day to be out and seeing some remainig blooms.

Progress

Today's daycare's Spring picture day. I sent Mia off with her Spring dress and a change of clothes. Since she's so active now, it's very difficult to take any good pictures of her. I have now fewer and fewer pictures that are not blurry.

After dinner before bath, she sat on the toilette and told me she peed in the potty and she did!!!

Milestones

Mia had two milestones today. She pooed in the potty at her own request. In the afternoon while we napped, Mike converted her crib into a full size bed. We then went to the store and get her a new set of mattress and box, some new sheets and two big girl pillows. It wasn't fully planned so we were in a frenzy. The new sheets are still in the dryer. The bed is very high. She has to use step stool but she's very excited. My girl has grown up.

Potty Training Prep

Mia is ready for potty training. In school they started sitting her on the potty. She's able to take off and pull up her pants, remove the diaper and sit on the potty but she has not succeeded yet.

We bought her training pants and pullup diapers. Today I ordered a drink and wet doll. I learned that it would take an entire weekend to get her trained and we should not leave the house. This weekend we plan to go to the Cherry blossom festival so I will start this next Friday for a three day intense program. I really need to get her free of diapers before the baby comes.

First School Outing

Mia is going to a petting zoo today with her class. I packed lunch for her the first time: pj sandwich, banana, cookies and apple sauce. She's wearing her toy backpack. I can't help being amazed at how big she is now.

Disney

Since I didnt go to Disney World, we made it to Downtown Disney for shopping on Thursday after my conference ended. I got a taste of Disney characters with my baby princess. Mua didn't know the difference. She was as happy as ever seeing Mickey and Mini. I don't have many good Disney pictures this time since daddy couldn't handle babysitting and photography the same time. What mattered was Mia had so much fun.

Cocoa Beach and Sea World

We were at Cocoa Beach on Monday. Mia played in the sand and water for a few hours before we drove back to Orlando. On Tuesday we spent the whole day at the Sea World. Here is Mia at the under water shark grill restaurant for lunch. Today Mike took her to Magic Kingdom. father daughter day.

Another Girl

Yesterday we found out we were having another girl. I told Mia when I got home. She said "I don't want baby sister, I want baby brother".

This morning, I told her baby sister was in mommy's belly and she should be careful not to put pressure on baby sis. Mia turned to me and said "where is baby brother?"

Big Sister

Yesterday Mia said "I want to see baby brother". She pulled my shirt up and said, "I kiss baby brother". She then planted a kiss on my belly. It is the sweetest thing. I am five months pregnant and we will know whether it's a boy or a girl this Friday. When I ask Mia if this is a baby girl or baby boy, she changes her mind all the time. Given that she has such a strong personality, having a baby brother might be better and we may have less sibling rivalry in the house. I am so impatient now I can hardly wait to know.

Today we have a snow storm so we all stay home. We are going to Orlando soon so I don't want Mia to play outside in case she catches a cold before the trip. She just graduated from her baby class at daycare and started with Miss Adella this Monday. I am hoping she will be potty trained soon so we don't need to deal with two babies in diapers.

Things she says

Mia caught me sneaking a chocolate. As she passed me with longing chubby hands over mike's shoulder, she said: so greedy!

Book store

Sad that barns & noble near our house is closing. We have a lit of good memories there. Mia had her picture taken there today before it closes next Tuesday.

Blurb

Mike was getting Mia ready for bed last night. He asked: who gives the best kisses? "Mommy". Mia said. I was in another room and was so happy about the nomination.

We had mice problem lately. Mia stomped the floor and said " mouse poopy diaper. Mouse got the cereal...打老鼠"

Bad Words

Mike taught Mia to say "Get up mommy, lazy butt". Not intentionally but she picked it up and now would not let it go. I made Mike pay 20 bucks towards her swear jar.

Other things, not so bad that she's picked up are "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh". She's like a sponge. You say something, she immediately repeats it. You can never expect what's coming out of her mouth next.

Party Overload

This weekend we had three birthday parties, all at some sports bounce place. Mia had her fill of cakes and pizzas.

Celebrating

Mia's birthday party was cozy. I got to see some friends who I haven't seen for a while. Mia got to bounce and eat her fill of cake and pizza. We went to a Chinese restaurant with friends to celebrate Chinese New Year. It was Chinese New Year yesterday.

Mia celebrating at school

Happy Birthday Mia

Mia turns two today! I am home today so we both sent her to school with cupcakes for her class. When we got there, she started crying. Miss Ismahan asked her who did her pony tail. She said mommy. Then Miss Ismahan got everyone to sing happy birthday to her and made her happy. Once she got distracted by the lady bug cupcakes, she forgot all about us.

She's been so expressive now and talking non-stop. She sings many songs from beginning to end both Chinese and English ones. I am amazed at her speed of growth. We marked her height on the door frame today. She's shot up a good four five inches since the 1-year-and-half mark.

My family called from China and said Happy Birthday to her this morning. She still remembers everyone and was excited to talk to her cousin and uncle.

Tomorrow we have a birthday party for her. And tomorrow is Chinese New Year's Eve!

Natural History Museum

Last Sunday we ventured out to DC to see the dinosaurs. One of Mia's favorite book is Lulu and the brontosaurus. She however had a reverse reaction over the fossils. I guess they are not quite the same as the cute picture book brontosaurus. She's now managed to say "scary" and "scared". We also visited all the mammals, the sea creatures and the butterflies.

Mia's first accident report

I got a call yesterday morning from the Daycare saying Mia ran, tripped over the toy stroller and cut her bottom lip. My heart just sank. First I thought it was her eye since the phone was breaking up. I was relieved to know it was her lip but still I felt bad for her. We got her first accident report from school. Teacher explained the first aid they applied... "vaseline" and "lots of TLC". I asked Mike what "TLC" was. He said "tender loving care". She saw me at the door, pulled a long sad face, pointed at her lip and said 'booboo'...
